Askham Hall

Having belonged to the same family since the 1700s, Askham Hall is not only a hotel, it includes a Michelin rated restaurant, Alium and is also a wedding venue and host of mindfulness retreats. An old country home, there is plenty of character, as you might expect, with old photos on the walls, mullioned windows and four poster beds. There are also beautiful countryside rooms, a heated outdoor pool, hot tub, sauna, and four acres of formal gardens.

Eco Credentials

• All vegetables and some fruits come from on-site gardens, and meat from their farms
• Other food sourced locally where possible
• Local contractors used where possible
• Staff trained on recycling policies
• Eco friendly cleaning materials
• Part of “Cycle to work” scheme
• Their Sustainability Statement indicates that they have a number of other sustainability strategies and aims, though it’s not clear to what extent these are being carried out.

Arrive by Public Transport

Mainline train to Penrith. Then you can take a taxi (15 minutes). Alternatively, the 509 bus travels from Penrith to Askham Stores, from where you can walk. The 509 only runs on weekends and bank holidays at certain times of the year.
