Cumbria Master Composters
About
The Cumbria Master Composters are a network of over 40 passionate and dedicated volunteers who spend time in their local communities promoting the idea that composting is a practical, easy step for most people to take if they want to restore health to our soils, reduce waste and energy consumption and save money. The Master Composters can often be found offering composting information and advice at community events alongside other Master Composters, helping with school workshops or delivering talks. Others work independently encouraging friends, neighbours or colleagues to start composting and helping those who are already composting with any problems they might have.
The group has been promoting home composting in Cumbria since 2017. Volunteers are recruited, trained and supported by Garden Organic. They have a number of composting demonstration sites across the county, including at:
- Ford Park, Ulverston
- Gosling Sike, near Carlisle
- The Queen Katharine School, Kendal
- Alpaca Cafe/Community Garden, Penrith
- Millom Network Centre
- Growing Well, Egremont
