Land and Nature Skills Service
About
The Land and Nature Skills Service (LANSS) is run by the University of Cumbria. The site is quite an extensive directory of courses, jobs, volunteer roles and apprenticeship opportunities across Cumbria in land- and nature-based disciplines.
While not all are necessarily “eco” or specifically environmental, lots are. Courses include things like:
- Boosting Soil Organic Matter
- Introduction to Regenerative Agriculture
- Climate Change and Environmental Awareness
- Self-Sufficient Veg Garden
The courses range from introductory to degrees, some are online and others are in-person across Cumbria.
Work and volunteer opportunities are quite varied too, including:
- Conservation volunteering
- Beach cleans
- Nature friendly farming apprenticeships
- Hedgerow surveyor
