About
Collects surplus materials from building sites and donations which you can then buy. Materials are all new and unused but would have otherwise been thrown away or burned. They work with a number of contractors to help them to effectively pass on unused material to where they can be useful.
As well as the main shop, they have:
- A tool library where you can borrow tools and DIY books.
- The Community Cabin, where they host workshops and events
- ReFill @ Rebuild, a refill shop selling useful household consumables such as cleaning products and toiletries.
- Community RePaint Store, which takes donations of half tins of (decent quality) paint and also sells the same. They also sell tins of ReColour Paint, which is remanufactured from half tins of paint.
These guys have won loads of awards for the work they have done, including Cumbria Social Enterprise Awards, UK Green Awards, and North West Regional Construction Awards. They are also the first in the country to have done something like this.
As well as buying from them, they also have plenty of volunteer and work experience opportunities available.
